Axe likely to fall on 'corrupt' faces in BJP

Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 2: In what looks like tough and serious stand taken by Central leadership over the issue of illegal cash transaction recently between two BJP leaders of the state, the duo are learnt to have been 'identified' and the names may be exposed soon. A day after two senior ministers were called by the Central leadership on Thursday, state President Sat Sharma and General Secretary Ashok Koul have been summoned again. Both the leaders left for New Delhi today.
Sources said even as the state unit of BJP tried to downplay the recent incident of cash transaction allegedly between two BJP leaders in an illegal manner post demonetization move, the Central leadership has taken the matter very seriously which is why it is summoning the ministers and senior functionaries recurrently. During the last 10 days both state President and General Secretary have been called twice over the matter and this is the third visit in a row, sources said while confirming the two senior functionaries having left for Delhi today in connection with the same development.
Sources further said even though the opposition parties have been clamouring in high pitch over the issue and demanding the leaders who are involved in the matter be identified, it is the pressure being mounted by a certain group from within the party on the Central leadership which is making them act swiftly and act tough in the larger interests of salvaging party's image as also reassuring the commitment of Prime Minister against black money and rooting out corruption as a larger campaign. This group has been making complaints in a consistent manner and reporting entire developments with regard to this incident followed by accusations from authentic quarters that 'money' has changed hands besides some illegal transactions having took place in heavy purchases by some leaders after demonetization move, sources added.
While many within the party terming it a serious issue and the stand taken by the state unit as 'inadequate', they are looking upon it as soft approach in defense of the 'colleagues' apparently with aim to 'protect' them, consequent upon reports having reached New Delhi, the Central leadership has taken a firm view in order to give a loud message that Prime Minister Narender Modi as also national President mean business in spearheading this campaign in a transparent manner, sources said. While a couple of ministers were called on Thursday, after discussion with them, the two senior functionaries have been called within a day, which assumes significance, sources further said.
