All water bodies in Ladakh freezes; night chill intensifies in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 2: All water bodies were again frozen in Ladakh region as minimum temperature recorded considerable drop while night became again chilly in the Kashmir Valley.
A Met Department spokesman today said weather will remain dry in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours which could result in further chill during the night. There will be no change in weather during subsequent two days.
All water bodies, including rivers, were frozen as the minimum temperature witnessed considerable drop. At Leh the minimum temperature dropped and settled at minus 9.1 degrees Celsius against.
However, temperature at all heights, including on border with Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) and China was between minus 20 degrees and 30 degrees. However, security forces remained deployed on the border to prevent any infiltration from the PoK.
The spokesman said the sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and minimum temperature would be around 11 degrees and minus 4 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours in Leh.
The Valley continued to reel under severe cold as minimum temperature witnessed a considerable drop due to clear sky during night.
In mosques "Hamams" are being used for warm water for devotees and also warming inner side of the worship places. Government has provided wood for Hamams on subsidised rates in the Valley.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar recorded drop and settled at minus 2 degrees, though the Sun was out and cold winds also continued.
The spokesman said the sky would be mainly clear with haze and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 14 degrees and minus 2 degrees in the summer capital during next 24 hours.
At winter capital, Jammu, where the Government is functioning, the sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 25 degrees and 10 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours.
