Handicaps protest to mark World Disabled Day, highlight demands

Rajouri, Dec 2: Specially abled from Rajouri district under the banner of All J&K Disabled Welfare Association today organized a meeting and protest demonstration on the occasion of World Disabled Day at Nowshera today.
The function was organized at Town Hall under the aegis of All J&K Disabled Welfare Association (AJ&KDWA) undere the leadership of Vinod Sharma, senior vice president and ShabirAhmed Samyal , president All J&K Handicapped Association (AJ&KHWA).
More than 100 especially abled persons from the district participated in the celebrations of World Disabled Day and later took out a protest rally from bus stand to Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Office Complex to highlight their demands. They also handed over a memorandum of their demand to Naib Tehsildar, Mushtaq Ahmed who assured them to forward it to Deputy Commissioner Rajouroi for further action.
"Any more discrimination with the specially abled persons will not be tolerated anymore and demanded implementation of schemes in letter and spirit launched for their welfare" said Vinod Sharma.
Specially abled demanded fully implementation of Disability Act 1998 and reservation for their children in government/private educational institutions. Besides this they, demanded early disbursing of enhanced pension of Rs1000 and demanded further increase on yearly basis.
They also demanded political reservation for specially abled, zero percent interest loans through self-employment and strict implementation of 50% concession in the passenger vehicles.
Specially abled have also demanded increase in reservation for them in government jobs from 3% (present) to 5 %. Jagdish Chander, president Sanatan Dharam Sabha ; Ashok Sharma, chief organizer, Veteran Citizens Association; Bindu Choudhry, Sarpanch and others also addressed the rally of differently Abled persons.
