KU in news again for wrong paper setting, paper leak | | | Bashir Assad Srinagar, Apr 1: Even as the departmental committee detected fraud in paper setting for the 2014 entrance test in political science at university of Kashmir, the authorities continue to maintain criminal silence over the issue despite the fact that the aspirants have registered their protest . In what can be termed a shameful act the Department of Political Science of Kashmir University while setting the paper for the 2014 entrance testy had not only used wrong language in setting the papers but had also incorporated ten wrong questions out of the total sixty to be attempted by the candidates. Sources told Early Times that even though the departmental committee detected fraud in paper setting but instead of fixing responsibility for this crime of wrong paper setting, the authorities are maintaining criminal silence and it was most likely that results may be declared on the basis of the test. Sources said that the departmental committee found ten questions wrong out of sixty and majority of questions had a misleading and confusing language. "There is a rumor in the town that part of the paper had already been disclosed" sources said. They said while as university has its own internal mechanism to punish such paper setters but in case of partial disclosure of the paper the legal options for the university are serious. Meanwhile aspiring candidates and the parents are aghast over the criminal insensitivity of the university authorities and demand afresh examination "The candidates are to be examined afresh and all necessary steps are to be taken to see that such candidates get justice" an aspirant told Early Times on the conditions of not to be named. Pertinently more than two thousand candidates from different parts of J&K state have appeared in the entrance examination for securing a seat in Political Science. When contacted a senior faculty member in the Kashmir University said that some university authorities are of the opinion that circumstances demand that paper be declared as cancelled. "It augurs well for the University of Kashmir that this year all other papers were of good standard and no ambiguity was noticed any where in any paper" said the faculty member. However, neither acting Vice Chancellor nor the Registrar Examinations were available for the comments. |
