JAMMU, Apr 1: Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati has said the Dalits, SCs, STs and OBCs are being made soft targets in Jammu and Kashmir by the present dispensation as they are being tortured and atrocities committed upon them despite none of their faults.
Her address to the issue apparently included a hint towards the killing of a Dalit person Rakesh Kumar, alias Giri who was shot down by police in an alleged fake encounter near Satyam Resorts in Dec 2010, and endorsed the claim raised by Early Times in its issue of April 1 under the caption: Mayawati likely to take up issue of dalit killings in state.
"I have been receiving the inputs from here that Dalits are subjected to great human rights violations by putting them in jails without listening to their problems. Whenever they try to raise their voice, they are gagged by the authorities here and are made culprits. None of their report is entertained at any quarter," said Mayawati while hitting against the 'rule of anarchy' prevalent in Jammu and Kashmir
She held general public accountable for choosing the wrong Government and paying the price and said that Lok Sabha elections are the litmus test for all Dalits, SCs, STs and other backward classes to join hand and give a befitting reply to the present Government by throwing it out of the power.
Meanwhile, launching a scathing attack on BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for being responsible for Godhra fallout in 2002 under his Chief Ministership, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati said, if Modi becomes the Prime Minister, India would perish due to communal riots.
She also raised a query for Modi on his oft repeated rhetoric on bringing a change in India saying," BJP also ruled India for six long years and brought no change in that period and Modi's claim of change is also a hollow slogan."
The BSP supreme also charged Congress by saying that since it is projecting 'Yuvraj' (Rahul Gandhi) as its Prime Ministerial candidate without naming him, the party's role in governance since Independence has been very unfortunate as India has plunged into deep crises on all fronts viz corruption, unemployment and price rise .
She held giant corporate class of the country that runs the country facilitating Congress, BJP and other opposition parties with huge sum of rupees for winning the elections and later implementing its own agenda for the benefit of its own self.
"It is some chosen high profile businessmen who run the Indian system of politics by sponsoring Congress, BJP and other opposition parties for winning the election and later put into practice agendas for their own benefits," said Mayawati while addressing a sizeable crowd at Parade Ground today.
Reverting to Jammu and Kashmir cause Mayawati said, "Time has come that all class and cadre belonging reserved categories should join hands and engage into one motive to bring Bahujan Samaj Party in power in Jammu and Kashmir so that the various issues related to different aspects could be resolved," she said adding that need of the hour is to embrace brotherhood by all cadre so that a strong force emerges on the state panorama. Her assertion on this front allegedly referred particularly to the disengagement among the state cadre for which she emphasised for the cohesion.
"Jammu and Kashmir is going to assembly polls sooner and LS polls have given you a chance to get united for a bigger fight ahead in the state politics and bring BSP with thumping majority here," she said to a thunderous applause of a sizeable crowd of nearly 5000 people present at the venue.
Mayawati did not missed the chance in saying that poor category of upper class in the state is also vying to join the BSP and expressed her desire that a brotherhood be maintained among the Dalits, SCS, STs and OBCs so that the other category people could also be welcomed into the party fold.
On the governance policy of the country and the state she said no political party sticks to its election manifestoes after coming to power as Indian polity is governed by the capitalists and informed that BSP does not carries any election manifesto and executes responsibilities related to the welfare of the general public. Taking a dig at the reservation system not being judiciously pursued by the Government in Centre, Mayawati said that the Central Governments have diluted the essence of purity of reservation to the dalits, SCs, STs and OBCs by including other castes also into the purview thus depriving the actual beneficiaries of the reservation.
"New laws are made so that the reservation module could be dented which has hurt the people belonging to the reserved class," said BSP chief
She, however, said that her party's agenda has no reservation for any caste and welcomes even the poor and downtrodden in the upper class and Muslims also to join their cadre so that their cause for a special reservation could be pursued also.
"I wrote a letter to the centre in this context to take cognisance of the matter , but no attention was paid towards it," she said .
Mayawati said many central schemes are incorporated for the welfare of the general people towards poverty alleviation, but all remain in cold bags due to the interference of the capitalists who become the major beneficiaries.
She also took up the issue of black money stashed in foreign banks and said if that money could be brought back it would add to a sizeable advantage for the betterment of the people.
The BSP chief held Congress responsible for surging corruption and increasing naxalite activities in the country saying that Congress is the only party that ruled most of the years after independence and has brought great miseries for the people of the nation.
She stressed upon the people to block all means of advancement of Congress and BJP to come to the power in Centre as well as all States of the country.
