Party has used them in Lok Sabha elections | Use and Throw Policy: BJP unlikely to give mandate to "tainted" MLAs | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 20: After completion of the polling of two Parliament segments of Jammu region, over confident BJP has started preparations for the Assembly elections. The party has decided to contest coming Assembly elections with an aim to become part of the government. Credible sources in BJP said that party has started the process of preparing panels of candidates for Assembly segments. All leaders have been asked to start the process of preparing panels for the assembly polls. Party has decided to emphasize on atleast 25 seats of Jammu province, one seat of Kashmir region and two segments of Ladakh with an aim to be part of the government. Credible sources said that a group within the party was strongly opposing giving tickets to those five MLAs who were earlier expelled from the party on the charges of cross voting and later their expulsion was revoked in the month of January this year. "There is feeling among party leaders that these tainted MLAs were used in the Lok Sabha elections so there is no need to further carry on these tainted leaders in future", credible sources and added that there are remote chances of all the tainted MLAs of getting party mandate in the coming Assembly polls. Committed party leaders are of the view that giving mandate to these tainted MLAs would give wrong impression among the public so it is better to abandon them before the Assembly polls. Pertinent to mention to mention here that out of total 11 BJP MLAs, seven were expelled from the party on the charges of cross voting in the Legislative Council elections which were held in the year 2011. Ironically seven MLAs were expelled from the party without adopting any genuine parameter. It was widely alleged at that time that "master mind" of cross voting, who is known for this proximity with government, was given clean chit while as some innocent MLAs were made scapegoat just to shield that "mastermind". A senior national leader of the BJP settled personal score with a veteran leader and painted seven MLAs as " traitors". But just before the Lok Sabha, five of these "traitors" MLAs were taken back in the party without any inquiry. It is still a mystery how party has decided to take back only five of the seven expelled MLAs. Only motive of the party at that time was to use them in the Parliament and later abandon them in future. |
