Voters day observed in GDC Mendhar | | | Early Times Report
Mendhar, Jan 24 : To commemorate the 5th National Voters Day, the department of Political Science in collaboration with NSS Unit of the college organized an essay writing competition, symposium today in the college. According to press release, the general theme of the Programme was "Voter Participation is essential for Effective Democracy" and the Sub-themes of the programme were : Emerging trends in voting, Role of youth for better democracy, Greater participation for a stronger democracy, Role of technology in election management, Role of civil society in strengthening electoral democracy. In Essay Writing competition, Neelofar Nuzarat, Nazmeen Mughal and Simran Sharma got Ist, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. While in symposium which was presided by Prof. Shabir Hussain Shah, Principal of the college. The Ist position was baged by Sobia Ferdous while 2nd and 3rd positions went to Nighat Ara and Nighit choudhary respectively. In his presidential address Principal discussed in detail the importance of the Day. He stress upon the students/eligible voter who attained the age of 18 years on 01/01/2015 for voting. He further said the basic aim of the day is to make the voter aware for maximum participation in the election process which is the backbone of Indian democracy. Prof. Shokit Hussain, Prof. Javed Manzoor and Prof. Javid Iqbal acted as Judges. Proceeding on the stage was conducted by Ms. Shabnum Head Deptt. of Political Science while vote of thanks was presented by Prof. A. A. Chowdhary, NSS Programme Officer of the College. |
