Moles of Tara, Kewal still managing affairs in School Education Department | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 24: Moles of then Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and his Deputy PRO Kewal Sharma are still ruling the roost in School Education Department notwithstanding change of guard in Jammu and Kashmir. The officers who were hand in glove with then self styled super education minister Kewal Sharma, are still enjoying the crucial postings and continuing with their shady practices, which have defamed the School Education Department, particularly during the last two years. The situation can be gauged from the fact that despite a clear cut order for cancellation of all the attachments and deployment of teaching cadre with immediate effect, some teachers and masters have not so far been relieved by the concerned DDOs on verbal instructions of the senior officers. However, on the other hand, a mess is being allowed to create in the Department by relieving those who were without posting and had been taking classes in schools. Even the patients suffering of fatal ailments like cancer, serious heart problems etc, have been relieved and asked to report to the original place of posting. According to the sources, the mess is intentionally being created to divert the attention from the scams and irregularities committed during the previous Government. The hue and cry over untimely cancellation of attachments and deployments, when the annual examinations are going to start within 1-2 months, has diverted the attention from the irregularities, such as illegal promotions and adjustments on pick and choose basis. For example, no one is talking of posting of around 100 newly promoted teachers as Masters on pick and choose basis even as majority of promotes are still working as teacher and awaiting their adjustment. Sources said that these adjustments on pick and choose basis were done in lieu of Rs 1.5 lakh per case and the booty was shared from top to bottom. There are several other irregularities, which were committed during the previous regime and need investigation for action against the culprits but the things are being enacted in such a manner that the attention of Governor regime is diverted to other issues, sources explained. Yet another example is the Chief Education Officer Jammu, Tarsem Lal, who is accused of committing irregularities in selection of Class IV employees in the Department but still enjoying the crucial post and managing the affairs. Even as the Vigilance Organization has registered an FIR against Tarsem Lal and other for committing the fraud, the Government has not felt it necessary to remove such a tainted officer from the important position. |
