Daily wagers to register protest to seek regularisation | EJAC supports programme | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 1: The daily rated workers are once again on the streets to press for their regularisation. The issue forced the former minister of PHE, Sham Lal Sharma to resign. Giving reasons for his resignation, the minister said some ministers in the previous government were creating hurdles for regularisation of the daily rated workers. However, the workers have pinned their hopes on the governor and have decided to agitate the matter on on February 3, 2015. The protest programme has been supported by Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC). The EJAC has appealed all the daily-rated workers of different government departments to assemble at Pratap Park on February 3 at 11 in the morning where protestors will chalk out future strategy. Talking to Early Times President EJAC, Abdul Qayoom Wani said that they (EJAC) leaders were waiting for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir so that they could raise their issue once again with the new government and added EJAC was never silent on the issue instead EJAC has already send a memorandum to the Governor NN Vohra in connection with regularization of Daily-rated workers of different departments and sough his attention in the matter. He said that EJAC leaders recently met top brass officials of HRD Ministry in Delhi and informed them about the issues pending which include regularization of Daily rated workers and pending Salaries of employees working in different departments who according Wani assured EJAC leaders of complete support and early redressal of their problems. Pertinently regularization issue of PHE employees created holes in previous NC-Congress coalition government after then Minister of PHE, Shamlal Sharma alleged NC leaders of indulging in his works and resigned from his portfolio just a day before Election commission of India (ECI) announced dates for Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and the matter of regularization of PHE employees remained lingering due to political rivalry. |
