| BJP MLA vows to spend salary for social causes | | | Bivek Mathur

Jammu, Feb 1: BJP MLA from Nowshehra constituency-Ravinder Raina has decided to lead from the front and use his salary for social causes in his constituency.
Raina, while talking to Early Times said that he would spend his salary for the social causes like getting poor unmarried girls of his constituency married, helping widows and destitute, providing succor to those families who could not afford to treat their children or parents in illness, constructing shelters for the beggars, differently able patients and for other important social issues in his constituency.
"After the constitution of 12th assembly, I will write to the prospective speaker not to credit my salary into my account but to use the same for strengthening the poor and downtrodden sections of the society. I've also decided to ensure 100% usage of my Constituency Development Funds (CDF) for the development of our constituency and fulfill the promise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi", said Raina.
"Agar main apni CDF main se ek rupaiya bhi apne liye istemaal karunga to yeh mere mazhab ke khilaaf hoga (Even if spend single rupee out of my CDF for my own personal benefit, it will be against my religion)", Raina said. Asked would he accept the government accommodation, Raina replied that he would not request the speaker that the same should be available to the needy people of his constituency as well as other constituencies of the state.
With this, he said he would appeal to other social workers, VDC members to contribute towards the society in any form to ensure the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "serving the people rather than doing job" is fulfilled.
Raina said that when he contested legislative assembly election from Nowshehra assembly segment, he was having no account or money but his father forced him to open an account with Rs 1000. "I will request all the 87 legislators after the 12th assembly is constituted in Jammu and Kashmir to do the social service rather than doing job as people have given their decisive mandate to legislators to get their issues redressed in return", Raina added. It may be worthwhile to mention here that Ravinder Raina, MLA Nowshehra is a Post Graduate in International Law and Human Rights and has represented the country thrice in Europe as a Human Rights activist. |
