Afresh bovine smuggling bid foiled, locals protest | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu Mar 14: A large number of locals took to roads against the authorities following the spurt incident of bovine smuggling surfaced in Vijaypur on Saturday. However the agitated people later were pacified by senior police and revenue officers who rushed to the spot immediately. Reports said that Police Party of Ghagwal Naka observed something foul when the truck (dumper) bearing Registration No. PB65G-9435 on its way from Kathua towards Jammu passed speedily and it acting swiftly communicated to SHO P/S Samba who signaled the truck to stop at Samba. "On seeing Police, the driver instead of halting the truck tried to flee away which ultimately hit another truck on NHW at 17-Miles Vijaypur and got stuck on road, police sources said, adding, "the occupants of vehicle abandoned the truck and managed to give slip to police." Police sources said, "On search of abandoned truck, the police team found 08 bovine animals loaded which were illegally being transported from Kathua towards Jammu." Accordingly, a case FIR No. 25/2015 u/s 188/279 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act stands registered at P/S Vijaypur and further investigation were started. The timely action by the District Police Samba has also averted the law and order problem, however, the people of the area have appreciated the act of Police. |
