Rajouri, Mar 14: Notwithstanding the tall claims of district administration Rajouri of relief distribution, free ration and compensations to flood victims among flood victims, yet protests are being held regularly in different parts of the district alleging discrimination in distribution of relief.
Many flood victims in Kotranka, Budhal, Manjakot, THanamndi, Darhal, Kalakot, Triyath,Sunderbani, Nowshera tehsils have been alleging that the names of the blue eyed and relatives of the revenue officials have been added in the beneficiaries lists despite the fact that they have not suffered any loss while actual victims and poor people have been left out.
Sukhdev Singh, SDM , Kotranka division, Saleem Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner and many other officials associated with relief distribution are of the view that the necessary relief including free ration for 6 months, compensation for damaged property, relief material etc , have been provided to the flood victims as per the lists prepared by the concerned revenue officials. "Many among those organizing protest demonstrations have no revenue records on their names and claiming for encroached government/forest lands and evacuee's properties. About 400 such files have been rejected by the concerned revenue officials" said Sukhdev Singh.
However, after several protest demonstrations by the left out flood victims both the officers and others concerned have assured the people that after fresh survey the will be provided necessary relief. |
