JAMMU, Mar 15: Incharge Secretary State Sports Council, Daleep Thusu has been shifted from the autonomous sports body with orders to report in the General Administration Department (GAD) at the Civil Secretariat, here.
The State Cabinet, which met today with Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed in chair, ordered Thusu to remain with the GAD till further orders of adjustment were issued to him.
Subsequently, Director General, Department of Youth Services and Sports, Navin Agarwal has been given the additional charge of the post of Secretary, State Sports Council, till further orders.Important to mention that here the Secretary continued to hold the post in violation of the constitution. As per the laid down norms, the Secretary is appointed through only voting or consensus among the nominated members soon after the constitution of the autonomous body.
But, unfortunately, the previous government failed to even hold the introductory meeting of those nominated members of the Sports Council thereby allowed the outgoing incharge Secretary to take major policy decisions without consultation of the members. Noteworthy to state here that the Council was constitution in May 2013 for a tenure of two years by the Omar Abdullah led coalition government.
"A lot of bad things have taken place in the Sports Council during the last two years, especially those related to construction work which needs to be looked into thoroughly proved by an independent agency", one of the annoyed members said.
Unhappy over the treatment, another member want the new government to correct the things by nominating members of integrity and then electing a genuine and deserving individual out of these members to lead the top sports body in J&K. |
