TB can be cured by medicines | Not by slogans | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 25: On the World TB day the Health Minister, Lal Singh sought a Swachh Bhart, Swasth Bharat and TB Mukt Bharat in a paid advertisement published in a section of press on March 24. The advertisement has dos and don'ts for preventing TB. The disease for the information of the Health Minister cannot be controlled by hollow slogans and advertisement. Swachh Bharat (Clean India) is a goal that can only be achieved by taking measures. Thousands of villages are still without potable water and medicare. In most of the cases, they share a common pond of the village with the animals.Cleanliness is all about etiquettes. The people of the state need to be told how to cough sneeze and answer the call of nature. An appeal in the local newspapers especially in the form of an advertisement attracts none. Yes, people do go tough advertisement offering employment. They show no interest in advertisements like the one depicting Lal Singh. Lal Singh perhaps does not know that TB remains a deadly killer in India. According to data furnished by an NGO, 2190 people die of TB on a daily basis across India. The reports from the state of Jammu Kashmir are equally disturbing. The TB patients, therefore, need medicines and counseling and not just hollow slogans. |
