Casual KMC workers demonstrate, threaten to suspend work 3/26/2015 10:51:55 PM Early Times Report Katra, Mar 26 : Traffic on main Katra Chowk remained suspended today for hours as casual laboureres blocked the road to stage protest against authorities of Katra Municipal Committee and local administration for failing to release their pending salaries and ignoring their regularization. The casual laborers engaged with Katra Municipal Corporation (KMC) assembled at main Katra Chowk and staged sit in dharna in support of their long pending demands. Amid sloganeering against concerned authorities at the helms of affairs, the protestors burnt the effigy of the government to register their protest. They also threatened to dismiss from services. Speaker while addressing the protestors said that they (casual workers) have not received salaries for the last three years putting them on starvation. 'Whenever they put up the matter before the seniors in Katra Municipal Corporation, they were threatened of losing their jobs. The protestors however were pacified by the Katra police officials who rushed to the spot and resumed the traffic onwards fro9m Katra Chowk.
