Govt denies compensation to Chamail's family | After dying in a Pak prison | |  Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 26: The government of Jammu and Kashmir today ruled out any compensation to the family of deceased Indian prisoner Chamail Singh who died in Kotlakhpath jail in Pakistan on January 15,2013. In reply to AQ.Q. No. 755 of Sat Pal Sharma (MLA Jammu West), Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Mohammad Sayed who also hold the charge of Home Minister J&K in his reply through under secretary to Government Home Department stated that no compensation has been given to the family members of Chamail Singh son of late Rasal Singh resident of border village Bhalwal Mullo Pargwal, Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu who died in Pakistan jail. "There is no provision for payment of compensation/relief in such cases," read the government replies. While talking to the Early Times, the family members of the deceased said that both UPA government and NDA government has done nothing for his family and added that both center and state government have failed to provide them the justice as the perpetrators involved in killing of Chamail Singh roam free, beside the government even fails to provide them any compensation. They said that in similar case, Punjab government not only gave compensation to Sarabjeet Singh's family, but also provided jobs to his daughters. |
