Bribe case: Court awards 1 yr imprisonment, Rs 5000 as fine to sarpanch | | | Rajouri , Mar 26: Munsiff Court at Kotranka in Rajouri today has awarded one year imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5000/- to a village sarpanch who had taken Rs 7 lakh from a person for to get a permanent government job through his links in the government. After hearing bopth sides, Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Shafiq Ahmed Chowdhry observed that the purpose of just punishment is designed so that the individual in the society, which ultimately constitute the collective, do not suffer time and again for such offence. With these observations, the court awarded rigorous imprisonment of one year and fine of Rs 5000 u/s 420/RPC. Court further observed In case the accused fails to make the payment of fine he shall undergo simple imprisonment for a period of two months Meanwhile the accused has been sent to District Jail at Dhangri Rajouri. As per case the aggrieved Anwar Shah s/o Palwan Shah r/o Kotranka gave Rs 7 lakh to get a permanent government job through his links in the government. But after a gap of more than years the aggrieved could not get government job and also his money back thus he approached the police at Kotranka. Accordingly a case FIR 17/2011 u/s 420 RPC was registered against the Sarpanch. Later police found the sarpanch involved in cheating the Anwar and a produced challan against the accused in the court of Munsif Court at Kotranka. |
