Panthak Morcha urges upon Governor to setup AIIMS at Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 31: Panthak Morcha has urged upon the Governor NN Vohra to setup AIIMS at Jammu which was earlier announced by the Union Finance Minister in his budget speech in February 2015. In a statement issued here, President Gurcharan Singh said that the announcement made by state government to shift the AIIMS to Srinagar is uncalled for and smacks of open discrimination with people of Jammu which is far behind as compared to Kashmir province in the matter of Medical Sciences. He said that best medical institute namely Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences and Research is already functioning in the valley. Gurcharan Singh said that Jammu super specialty Hospital and Medical College Hospital are poorly staffed and lack life-saving machines. These hospitals are concrete structures with no worth the name specialist doctor or paramedical staff. He said that basic essential items like drinking water, 24 hours running electricity and clean beds are missing patients in surgery and other wards are huddled together on one bed. He said same is the case in children, maternity and Gandhi Nagar hospital. He demanded that private practice by the doctors particularly specialists should be banned. He said that senior doctors and nursing staff usually play truant with the patients, Clinical labs are working at the mercy of technicians in the government hospitals. |
