Youth hit by bureaucrat's vehicle dies at GMC Babus build pressure on docs, HOD Anesthesia resigns 4/1/2015 12:14:36 AM SUMIT SHARMA Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 31: High Voltage drama erupted at GMC hospital here after a youth, who was hit by a vehicle of a bureaucrat earlier this week, succumbed to his injuries on Monday. The victim Neeraj Gupta was admitted in the GMC hospital after he was hit by the Under Secretary's vehicle on Monday. He was taken to Operation Theater where a neurologist Dr Furrkan Ahmed, declared that he is taking his last breath. Despite knowing that patient is on his last legs GMC management arranged a ventilator from ICU to appease the bureaucrats but the victim didn't respond and died. Informed sources said that soon after he was admitted in the hospital, pressure started mounting on the doctors. The HoD Anesthesia Dr Shruti Gupta had to face the brunt. After, she felt harassed for no fault of her, she tendered her resignation. As the word about Dr Gupta handing over her resignation to principal spread in the hospital faculty of the GMC Hospital blocked the Operation theaters and gave a strike call following which The Principal GMC Dr Ganshyam Dev held a meeting with the faculty members and pacified them. The resignation was not accepted later. Pertinently, a 30 year-old trader was hit at Rotary Chowk falling under Pacca Danga Police Station by a government vehicle issued to Under Secretary allegedly being driven by a driver in intoxicated condition. Neeraj Gupta son of Puran Chand of Purani Mandi who was running vehicle accessories shop at Parade, was driving a scooty when hit by a rashly driven Scorpio allegedly issued to one senior official to the rank of Under Secretary.
