BJP to reward Khajuria for cross voting, Arora for getting zero | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 31: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) not giving chance to committed and sincere leaders to get a berth in the Legislative Council and preferring losers and tainted persons for the berth in the upper house has disappointed the people who put in their heart and soul to ensure that BJP wins 25 assembly seats from the Jammu region. While the names of former party MLA Ashok Khajuria and party spokesperson Ramesh Arora are making rounds for being catapulted as MLCs on the BJP quota for the scheduled nominations against vacant posts in Upper House, the political observers feel that the party could have given loyal and young people this opportunity to maintain its liking in the society. Veteran Ashok Khajuria, who attracted ill repute in the alleged cross voting case in favour of National Conference (NC) has been rewarded MLC seat out of blues at the cost of many aspiring and dedicated youth who were dumped for reasons best known to party high command. The BJP known as party with difference has also attracted criticism from public and within the party since past year s i.e. earlier in 2003 MLC (Upper House) elections, the then only BJP MLA, had allegedly voted in favour of the NC candidate followed by strong criticism for alleged cross voting again in the 2010 Rajya Sabha elections when two BJP MLAs including Ashok Khajuria and Jugal Kishore openly voted in favour of NC candidate Dr Farooq Abdullah. Similarly, Ramesh Arora the acclaimed party spokesperson too is becoming an eye sore for many young aspirants. Some disgruntled elements within party mock at him saying, he is going to get this award for disappointing BJP in Kashmir region by returning empty handed from there in 2014 Assembly polls. The disgruntled elements questioned why the Jammu East is more significant that rest of Jammu as if one keenly observes there are already two MLA from Jammu East i.e. Rajesh Gupta and Priya Sethi (nominated) and now what forces BJP leadership to catapult another leader -Ashok Khajuria to the Legislative Council from the same constituency. |
