Jammu, Apr 8: Language Club of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar under the aegis of Department of Urdu organized an extension Lecture on the topic "Feminism in Urdu Literature". On the occasion, Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College was the Chief Guest whereas Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, a well known writer and scholar was the Resource Person. The programme began by welcome address by Dr. Daljeet Verma, HOD Urdu who stressed upon the need of participation of women writers in Urdu for the best expression of sentiments, feelings and pathos. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kiran Bakshi got emotional and encouraged the girl students to prove their worth by being a good daughter, a distinguished writer, the best entrepreneur and herald the new era of women empowerment. It was attended by students and staff of the College. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Wani in his guest lecture traced the concept of feminism in Urdu Literature since its inception. He also narrated the short story "Beti" to throw light upon the role of daughters in the family, their feeling, their attachment and a sense of sacrifice, which deeply touched the heart of the audience. |
