Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 8: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash while replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Mohammad Amin Bhat in Legislative Assembly Wednesday said that 257 kanals and 19 marlas of propriety land at village Vessu Qazigund has been acquired by Industries and Commerce Department for setting up of Integrated Industrial Development Centre to facilitate the entrepreneurs to establish Industrial units there. He said that Detailed Project Report has been prepared for development of this Industrial Estate.
According to an official statement, "the minister said that the project has been estimated to cost of Rs 10.18 Crore as per the DPR which includes Rs 2.50 Crore for providing reliable power supply. The project is designed to carve out about 158 plots for facilitating setting up of polymer, Wood, Steel, Electric, Chemical, Food, IT and Textile based Industrial Units."
The Minister said the execution of the Civil Works of the projects has been entrusted to J&K SICOP limited and the Power Development Department to execute the works of power supply.
"Government has so far released Rs 5.66 crore for implementation of the projects adding that Rs 4.57 crore have been expended on several works of the project," he said.
The Minister said that pace of development has been hampered due to existence of non-fruit bearing trees within the estate, as auction of these could not materialize due to fixation of high reserved value of the trees by Social Forestry Department Islamabad.
He said that accordingly the matter was taken up with authorities time and again and now the Social Forestry Department Islamabad has revalidated the value of non fruit bearing trees and reserved price has now been fixed at Rs. 10.88 lakh plus VAT, the statement added.
"The auction of these trees will be held soon and matter will be resolved in order to pave the way for finalizing the development of Estate and make it feasible for allotment of plots to budding entrepreneur.
Due to the Status quo orders passed by the Additional District Judge Islamabad in the written petition filed by one Ab Satar Bhat R/O Vessu for delineation of land measuring 7 kanals and 3 marlas which has already been compensated, the construction of boundary wall could not be completed," the statement said.
He said that as soon as these impediments are overcome and power supply becomes available, the allotment of land and setting up of the production unit will be started.
