Kathua, Apr 8: Jammu Kashmir Red Cross Society (RCS) held a meeting of First Medical Responders (FMRs) and volunteers of District Kathua here today. According to press release, the meeting was held with an aim to share the concept of the First Medical Responders (FMRs) with the District authorities and to explore the possibilities of developing linkages with district Disaster Response Mechanism so as to ensure that the certified medical responders become an integral part of the Disaster Management System at the district level. Nearly 80 participants including volunteers, Life Members, Students, representatives from Police, Health and Civil Administration attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Assistant Director, Planning, B.R. Sharma. In his address to the participants, Sharma shared information the structure of the District Disaster Management Authority and informed that Red Cross Volunteers have already been made an integral part of the system. General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K Chapter, Roma Wani in her message to the participants said that being auxiliary to the state government, Red Cross volunteers and First Medical Responders have an important role to play in the district disaster mechanism. Representative from District Health Dept. suggested various possibilities of involving Red Cross Volunteers during emergencies as well as during peacetime. |
