Jammu, Apr 8: Sharing the House's concern over the loss of human lives & public assets during the September 2014 floods, recent landslides and incessant rains across the state, Minister for Revenue, Javaid Mustafa Mir said that government is making serious efforts to provide relief and rehabilitation to the affected families. Terming suggestions of the members as a positive note for making the system more effective and prompt, the Minister said that the issues raised by the Members from time to time makes the government aware of the problems faced by the people. In this regard, the Government had separated Relief and Rehabilitation from Revenue Department to provide immediate succour to the flood affected families across the state. Replying to the discussion on the relief and rehabilitation for the affected people of the State, the Minister informed the House that after noting the impact of recent rain government immediately took necessary steps and started rescue and relief measures across the State. He further said that with the coordination of various authorities' Government started taking various preventive measures including shifting of people from vulnerable areas to safer places to avoid any loss of precious lives. Responding to various issues, the Minister assured the House that instructions would be issued to all the District Development Commissioners to personally monitor the situation and to take care of the people affected by recent landslides and incessant rains. He assured the House that all genuine concerns would be looked into and redressed on priority. The Minister said that the directions have already been given to all Essential Service Departments to gear up for better service delivery and to ensure immediate restoration of public utilities besides evolving an effective mechanism for redressal of grievances at the earliest. Earlier, as many as10 Members including, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Jugal Kishore, Qaisar Jamsheed Lone, Yashpal Sharma, Vibod Gupta, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Yasir Reshi, Dr. B A Veeri, Surinder Choudhary and Sajad Kichloo participated in the discussion and raised concern over the damages caused by the flood and recent incessant rains across the State. |
