DD-AIR combine wins by 4 wkts in CGEWCC T20

Jammu, Apr 8: The combined side of Doordarshan, All India Radio (AIR) and PIB today registered a fine four wickets win against Survey of India (SOI) to qualify for the next round of the ongoing Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the Centre Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here.
Batting first, after winning the toss, SOI set a target of 109 runs after the whole side bowled out in 19.1 overs. Maheshwar Singh remained top scorer with 54-ball 61 runs including two sixes and three boundaries while Subash and Luku Vinayak contributed 16 and 12 runs respectively.
Girdhari bowled brilliant spell from DD-AIR combine causing most of the damage to the opponent bowling line up with five wickets for 25 runs in four overs. Rajesh Singh secured three wickets for 16 runs while Ravinder and Suresh shared apiece each.
Later, DD-AIR combine attained the goal making 109 runs for six wickets that too sparing 3.3 overs of their innings. Sanjay Koul contributed highest 24 runs coming off 17 deliveries, followed by Ravinder Singh and Atul Sharma, who made 17 and 13 respectively. Suresh also added 13 runs to the total.
Maheshwar Singh, who earlier made half century, remained the most successful bowler with three for 12 in four overs. However, his efforts go waste in view of lack of support from the rest of the side. Ranjit Singh bagged two wickets.
Meanwhile, in another scheduled match for today, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA) awarded walkover in view of Indian Institute of Integrated Medicines (IIIM) failed to report the venue.
Now, in the next match, scheduled for tomorrow, Geological Survey of India (GSI) shall take on Centre Water Commission (CWC) at 9 am. Today's match officiated by the technical penal comprising Vimarsh Kaw and Anoop Magotra as umpires while Rattan was scorer. Also present were BS Bhan, Suabsh Bhagat, Ashok Chadha, Desh Kumar Sharma and Harcharan Singh.
