HC pulls up Ch Ramzan for not vacating Govt accommodation | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 8: The state High court today directed Director Estates to give details about the persons including former ministers and legislators who are holding and occupying the government accommodations illegally in Srinagar. A single bench of the court comprising Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey also directed the government to inform the Court if there was any policy framed by it to provide alternate accommodation to protected persons including the ministers and the legislators. "I further feel that such information(s) would be inconsequential, unless the respondents also indicate the details of the private properties owned by such unauthorized occupants in and around the limits of City of Srinagar, including parts of District Budgam bordering Srinagar District," the court said and sought the details by April 15. It passed the directions while hearing an application filed by the state, seeking vacation of an order by the court by virtue of which status quo has been ordered regarding accommodation occupied by former CAPD minister Chaudary Mohammad Ramzan at Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar. The government has sought the vacation on the grounds that the accommodation allotted to him is required to be made available to the newly elected legislators and Ministers. Meanwhile, the court also issued notice to Ramzan seeking his response by April 15. |
