LMD books 12 manufacturers for violating PCRE

Jammu, Apr 8: The Legal Metrology Department (LMD) today booked 12 manufacturers for violating, Packaged Commodity Rules and Enforcement Act (PCRE).
As per an official handout, a drive was conducted to safeguard the interest of consumers at Air Plaza Retail Holdings Private Limited with the brand name Vishal at Bahu Plaza.
"As many as 12 different suppliers dealing with sale of rice, stationary items, namkkeens, biscuits, kitchen utensils and dry fruits were booked for violating Packaged Commodity Rules and Enforcement Act for not declaring mandatory declarations like Max Retail Price (MRP), net weight and not adhering to the prescribed manners of providing information to the consumers, spokesperson said.
He said, "Officers seized all the deceptive packages and seizure memo was issued to the management of all the companies by the concerned Inspector through Air Plaza 'to show cause why legal proceedings may not be initiated for the omissions'.
Meanwhile, one manufacturer was booked for unfair selling as LPG Stove with inferior metal, he added.
