Rajouri, Apr 17: Police today arrested an ex-serviceman for allegedly murdering his wife at their residence in Garran village which falls under the jurisdiction of Dharamshal police station.
The accused has been identified as Sham Lal (55), son of Khajoor Singh, and the deceased as Shanti Devi (45).
Police sources said that at about 7.30 am today, Urfan Wani, SHO of Dharamshal police station, received an information about the Shanti's murder. Soon thereafter, the SHO and additional SP (Nowshera) Rakesh Kumar rushed to the spot.
During investigation and questioning of the suspects, including family members, it was established that over some domestic problem, Sham had hit his wife on the head with a hammer, resulting in her instant death.
After legal formalities and post-mortem at PHC, Kalakot, police handed over the body to its legal heirs for last rites.
The accused was also arrested and booked in a murder case under section 302 of RPC. |
