Cong, NC questions BJP's claims to curb separatism | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 17: Though BJP gave a tough signal to the separatists and militants that it will not tolerate any anti India activity in Jammu and Kashmir, the party has failed to convince the nation that it is a Party with a difference and unlike the previous rulers , BJP will not give a long rope to separatists and militants. Soon after the two day meet of party's state executive at Katra, Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leaders, Dr Nirmal Singh told reporters that separatists, anti India activities will not be tolerated and no one will be allowed to wave Pakistani Flags on Indian soil. He said Masrat Alam the mastermind of 2010 stone pelting violence was released by previous Government but he has been re- arrested now and no one will be allowed to indulge in anti national activities as government will take a tough stance against them. Substantiating this, the BJP MLA and state BJYM chief Ravinder Raina said that anti national activities will not be tolerated any longer now and Government will act tough against terrorism and anti national activities. He said BJP has not changed its stand on terrorism and it continues to be the same as it was when party was in opposition. "We are not power hungry and can sacrifice thousands of Governments for national pride and honour so there is no question that we can't quit the Government," he added. He said the Party discussed the situation in office bearer's meeting and it was decided that government should act tough against terrorists and separatists. He said our flexibility should not be construed as our weakness. He said BJP-PDP coalition will work for development of state and people will be surprised to see a sea change within a year. Meanwhile, taking on BJP, Congress questioned party's stand on terrorism and separatism. A spokesman of the Congress while commenting on Dr Nirmal Singh's statement said why the separatists were allowed to hold such anti India rally in Srinagar which was never allowed during congress rule. He said BJP claims to curb separatism have totally proved hollow and party had misled the masses over the issue during all these years. "Now they are in Government both in the state as well as Centre and they should act tough against separatists if they have gut," the spokesman added. National Conference has also ridiculed BJP claims saying it is easy to talk when in opposition and perform when in Government. A NC spokesman while turning down claims of Deputy CM said for him the chair of Deputy Chief Minister is more important than putting separatists and anti nationals behind bars. |
