Haq Khan reviews IWMP progress | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 22: The Minister for Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan reviewed the achievements under Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) at an officers meeting here today. The Minister asked the concerned authorities to mobilize staff within the department to provide fulltime manpower required for effective implementation of IWMP projects in each district. In this regard, he constituted a committee which would recommend the deployment of staff with the project from District Rural Development Agency (DRDA). The Committee was given one week time to submit a detailed report after getting the requirements from the concerned Project Managers of IWMP. The Minister also asked the authorities to furnish details of funds and expenditure under different departmental schemes so that the state government could pursue the release of installments and funds for effective implementation. The Minister had a detailed review of Integrated Watershed Management Programme in the State. He was briefed that a perspective plan of Rs 2300 crore is under implementation in the State under Integrated Water Management Programme (IWMP) for treating 15.33 lakh hectares of the land from 2011-12. It was informed in the meeting that the Department of Land Resources Government of India has also approved Rs 979 crore for all the districts of the State. The Minister directed all the field level officers to carry on the projects in the manner mode with more zeal and dedication so that the benefit reaches to the people at grassroots level in the identified projects areas. He instructed them to keep a strict vision on quality and quantity of the works being executed by them as per the guidelines. Asked them to involve Gram Sabha in all activities being carried out under IWMP. |
