Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Apr 22: Chairman of the so-called radical faction of Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, has declared the Indian television news channels as part of the Central government's "military operation" in Jammu and Kashmir but made it clear that the separatist conglomerate would not like to make their Valley-based crew jobless.
Visibly perturbed over the current affairs programmes and talk shows of different TV channels, in which anchors and panellists have been making no-holds-barred attacks on the separatist leaders and their supporters, Geelani group's spokesperson Ayaz Akbar said in a press release on Wednesday that the Indian electronic media was running propaganda "todefame the just and genuine struggle of Kashmiris".
While asking the local reporters of these channels to perform their professional duties in an honest way, the Hurriyat spokesperson said: "We understand their compulsions and limitations and we also know that they have no say in the editorial policies of these channels and they can't change their thinking".
Mr Akbar said:"Hurriyat doesn't want to trouble these local reporters working for these channels". He added: "But we want that they should make their editors aware about the "ground realities" and make them understand that the issues over which they make hue and cry and try to mislead the general public of India are actually no issues in Jammu & Kashmir. "There is nothing new in these issues", he said.
"This process is going on in Jammu & Kashmir from last 68 years and whether it is national day of Pakistan or the cricket match of Pakistan, every child of Kashmir expresses his happiness over their every win". He said that if waving Pakistan flag were the case of "waging war against India" , then India has to file charges against the millions of Kashmiri people.'
Akbar said that reporters associated with Delhi-based news channels for the purpose of earning livelihood can without any difficulty continue their work however while reporting any occasion or incident, they should honestly discharge their professional duties and try to highlight the truth in that.
"They should also try to raise their voice and concern against the negative and false propaganda of these channels. Hurriyat should further say that they are our children and we don't want to snatch their livelihood.
