World Earth Day celebrated in Jammu with enthusiasm

Jammu, Apr 22: Various institutions of Jammu city, adjoining areas and the institutions of districts celebrated World Earth Day with pomp and show on Wednesday.
Department of Environmental Sciences of University of Jammu organized awareness campaign on World Earth Day at Mansar in collaboration with Centre for Environment Education and Training (CEET), Jammu to promote awareness regarding conservation and protection of Mansar lake, Jammu.
In this regard, students highlighted various pollution problems associated with the lake and various environmentally sustainable methods for protection of lake from further degradation and deterioration. Prof AK Raina, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences declared the event open wherein more than 200 students, scholars and locals participated.
KC Gurukul Public School Paloura, Jammu celebrated World Earth Day with great enthusiasm in its school premises with great fervor. With the aim to make the children aware of the day, its importance and how it is co-ordinated globally.
Enthusiastic tiny toddlers of class I swayed with the beats of "Mother Earth, Mother Earth and its great place to be…" Toddlers were dressed in green colour and slogans on mother earth were spoken by them. A beautiful skit on the mother earth was also performed. They also learnt that Indian traditional wisdom has always advocated reverence towards nature and also Indian philosophy gives a very high degree of esteem and honour to mother Earth. Academic Director of the School, Vijay Puri exhorted the children and teachers to spread the message of saving Planet Earth and expressed that we should not be callous to very source of our sustenance and survival.
JK Montessorie School and its unit JK little Millennium celebrated World Earth Day with great aplomb and enthusiasm in the school premises here today and more than 300 students participated from playgroup to class 3rd.
On this occasion a special assembly was conducted which conveyed the message that our planet "Earth" is in crises due to global warming, over population and other critical environmental issues. The event was organized for spreading awareness among children about the importance of earth protection and for maintaining ecological balance thus promoting a healthy "Earth". Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhadarwah under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) organised a 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan' on World Earth Day at all company operating base of Rashtriya Rifles, Bhadarwah to commensurate the importance of Earth Day. The Swacch Bharat Abhiyan was organised at all company operating base and HQs Sarna of Rashtriya Rifles and near surroundings villages. Prior to starting the cleanliness of area, a lecture was delivered at each COBs/TOBs to the youth and villagers in which it was elucidated that this is a national level campaign by the Government of India, covering cleaning of every towns, streets, roads and infrastructures of our country. A variety of age-appropriate activities have been planned for the school across a span of a week. A few activities undertaken are Recycled Fashion Parade, Best Out Of Waste exhibition, children also spoke on the planet earth, poster making, to name a few. In the Little Millennium Pre Schools promoted by M/S Educomp Childcare a field trip was organized to the Rajinder Park Canal Road Jammu in which students of both the branches participated by planting the plants of medicinal and ornamental nature at the Rajinder Park. The programme was organized under the supervision of Akhila Magotra the Chief Learning Officer Little Millennium Jammu who while speaking on the occasion sensitized the participants about the importance of preserving the flora and fauna of the Mother Earth to not only to maintain ecological balance but also to save the humans from the fury of natural calamities . Similarly, Daffodils Care Convent Pre School Jain Bazaar & Channi Himmat , celebrated Earth Day with great responsibility and loyalty. The school campus was looking very beautiful with the decoration of green balloons & small flower pots on every side. One of the student enacted as Mother Earth & conveyed the message to save earth,clean earth & green earth. Many children came with the slogan based on Save Environment. Children also danced with green balloons in green dress.
Lawrence Public School, Panjtirthi and Sidhra branch pledged to spread the message 'Celebrate Earth Day, everyday' to the people of Jammu. A special assembly was conducted which started by singing, Save the Earth song. Slogan making competition, poster making competition also marked the occasion. Children from the junior wing also participated & presented a small skit on the importance of protecting Mother Earth.
Shakuntla Joshi, Founder Principal, Lawrence Public School informed the students that Earth Day is intended to inspire awareness & appreciation for the Earths natural environment. Earth Day was founded by US Senator, Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach in first, held on April 22, 1970
Mother Pride and Joy School celebrated Earth Day as part of appreciation & love for Mother Earth besides bringing awareness amongst children about the serious problems that the planet Earth is facing due to various environmental hazards and making our generation next environmental conscious from the very beginning. Model Academy-the prestigious school of MIER Celebrated 'Earth Day' today in collaboration with ParyavarnaMitra and Centre for Environment Education, India.
Various events were organized at the B.C. Road, Residency Road branch and at Humming Buds the Pre-school. The celebrations included a myriad of educational and fun activities designed to make the children aware about a clean and green environment in addition to conservation of natural resources. All the activities were organized under the banner of the 'Environment Club' of the school.
Joint Director MIER, Dr. Adit Gupta appreciated the work of the talented students and exhorted them to make collective and sustainable efforts to keep the environment clean and green and plant more and more trees to save the earth. Management Representative Rupa Gupta, Officiating Principal UshaGadoo, Project Director Ruchika Gupta, Manager Academics Manjari Sehgal and JasleenMohial and CCAIncharge ManjuVali were also present on this occasion. First, second and third prizes were distributed among the students.
Similarly, the students of Doon International School carried out a rally in Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar to celebrate 'Earth Day'. They spread the message of clean and Green India, taking forward PM Modi's "Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan". Students held placards with beautiful messages like "Pollution is no solution", "Don't Panic, Be Organic", "We are the World" etc. They took a pledge to keep our own city clean and green.
A seminar was organized at Government Higher Secondary School Wathoora in central Kashmir's Budgam district on Wednesday. The programme was organized by Fallah Foundation a Non Government Organisation (NGO) and the theme of the programme was "How to prevent Kashmir from the natural disasters ? " .
Ten students from class 9th , 10th , 11th and 12th spoke on the topic of prevention of natural disasters in Kashmir. Principal Govt Higher Secondary School Wathoora Javaid Ahmad Shera gave vote of thanks and appealed students to make best use of environmental awareness programmes and practically implement the things they learn in their day today lives. Dr Mushtaq Khan Fallah Foundation Trustee appealed students as well as school teachers to actively participate in the programmes related to environment conservation. He stressed upon students to be the messengers of change vis a vis environment protection.
On the occasion of the "WORLD EARTH day ' R.M public school organised a slogan writing competition in the school premises. Slogan writing competition was conducted for the students of class 5th to 8th. The idea of competition was to create awareness among the students about on earth or environment.
Principal Ravinder Kour and vice principal Shashi jamwal appreciated the excellent efforts of the students.
The students who got positions are as follows:- 1st position- MANSHU SHARMA of class 8th, 2nd position- AMAN VERMA of class 7th and 3rd position- AISHWARYA of class 5th A. Earth Day Celebrated with vigour and enthusiasm at Jodhamnal Public School
Today the Earth Day was celebrated by the Students of Jodhamal Public School in the School OAT. The programme started with an Oath Taken by all Jodhamalians to keep our environment clean and green. All students together cleaned their classes and performed different cultural items to show the importance of mother Earth in our life and how to cater to the cleanliness of Mother Earth as we care for our mothers. There was a kavya Gosthi in the senior school wherein again the way we treat mother earth was the central theme and how to change our ways and means was discussed.
The Central University of Jammu (CUJ) celebrated International Mother Earth Day 2015 at its Temporary Academic Block, Sainik Colony, Jammu. Abdul Majid Padder, Minister of State for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation & Flood Control, Animal Husbandry & Forest was the Chief Guest of the function. Suresh Chugh IFS, Addl. PCCF/Director, Ecology, Environment & Remote Sensing, J&K was the Guest of Honour. The function was presided over by the CUJ VC, Prof. Ashok Aima.
The International Mother Earth Day is celebrated every year on April, 22. The Earth Day was founded by US senator, Gaylord Nelson on April 22, 1970 to make people aware about the safety and protection of the Mother Earth. In 1990, the Earth Day went global mobilising more than 200 million people from 141 countries, thus raising the Environmental issues to the world stage. In 2009 United Nations Assembly resolution changed the name of the Earth Day to the International Mother Earth Day. The Earth Day is celebrated in many ways such as holding Seminars and other educational activities, planting trees, teaching people to conserve energy & water, etc.
JK Public School, Kunjwani, joins the world in commemorating World Earth Day. To rouse man's consciousness towards the deteriorating environment, the World Earth Day is celebrated everywhere since April 1972. S.K. Singh, Principal, JK Public School, Kunjwani, motivated the students to consider everyday as Earth Day and work for the safeguard of the environment. He also initiated a pledge to work to build a better environment and join this global crusade.
