Naeem visits Govt College for Education | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 22: Stressing the need for achieving quality and excellence in teacher education, Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar today said it must be result-oriented and relevant to the present scenario. The Minister, accompanied by Minister of State for Information, Education and Culture, Priya Sethi, visited Government College for Education here today, to get firsthand appraisal of the working of the institute. Commissioner Secretary Higher Education, Director School Education, Jammu, Director Colleges and Principal, Government College of Education was also present on the occasion. During the visit, Ministers reviewed the academic curriculum for teachers and took stock of entire gamut of infrastructural and educational facilities at the institute. The Minister also inspected the library and instructed for enhancing facilities there and also called for its digitization and automation. The Minister asked for creation of a "Book Reading Club" to inculcate habit of reading books among the prospective teachers with an idea that the same habit will eventually trickle down to the students. The Education Minister also addressed students and staff members at a seminar organized with the theme "Save the Girl Child. Earlier, the Minister along with Director School Education, Jammu visited Government Primary School, Langer which has been recently upgraded as a part of cluster under model school concept, an endeavor of the Government to provide focused attention to improve the education scenario in such schools. During the visit the Minister inspected the premises and interacted with the students and the staff members. He urged the teachers to work with dedication and make it a mission to achieve best outcomes and motivate students to seek admission in Government Schools. |
