| LPU, SPS Apollo Hospitals organize conference on Clinical Nursing | | | Early Times Report
JALANDHAR, June 6 : School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Lovely Professional University (LPU) & SPS Apollo Hospitals collaborated to organize 6th Nursing conference at LPU campus. The aim of the conference was to educate nursing students about 'Maternal & Child Health'. Near 500 nursing students, doctors, nurses, paramedics of the Punjab state participated in the conference. Students were educated about the care of new born at birth time; identification of rhythm disturbances & treatment thereof; life-threatening complications including convulsions & high-blood pressure during pregnancy; breast feeding; and, post natal & post operative cares. LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal congratulated the organizing teams of both SPS Apollo Hospitals and LPU for bringing together emergency care practitioners and nursing students for required awakening to care pregnant women & newborns. During different sessions of the conference, Dr Zeenie Sarda Girn, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at SPS Hospitals, enlightened students about post natal and post operative care. Dr Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Senior Consultant, Department of Neonatology focused on the care of new born at birth. Dr Vikas Bansal, Senior Consultant, Department of Pediatrics discussed about Identification of Rhythm disturbances & treatment. Dr Zeenie explained that there are sometimes severe conditions during pregnancy. These are rare stages but affect about one in every 2,000 to 3,000 pregnancies. She informed that the common symptoms of first stage are swelling in face or hands, headaches, excessive weight gain, nausea, vomiting, urinating & vision problems. |
