Dilapidated roads, shortage of public transport irks residents

Banihal, June 6: The worst condition of Maximum link roads of Banihal Tehsil which connects the village with Banihal town and shortage of passenger transport on these link toads is a big problem for locals especially to the students of the area.
Sources said that eight kilometer long Pogal Shalgadi link road of Banihal on which work was executed under PMGSY het to be completed. "The work was commenced 15 years back, same has not been completed even after 15 years", they said.
"Several other roads of the tehsil like Neel Chamalwas, Khari Maho Mangit, Ukhral Seenabti roads are also in very bad conditions", local said, demanded immediate repair and restoration of these links roads otherwise they threatened to protest against the district administration and the concerned departments.
Students of these areas said that the shortage of transport on these link roads increasing their problems. "Girl student from Alinbass village said on telephone that they are suffering due to the shortage of transport on these link roads and mostly the time they will not reach their schools and colleges in time and many times they missed their periods due to the shortage and non-availability of in time transport", they added.
The students community appealed to ARTO Ramban and district administration to make answerable to the transporters and drivers to play on time and also make them sure to concession in fair for the students otherwise they threatened to strike. They also said that due to the shortages of passenger vehicles on these link roads the heavy overloading is seen in matadors and Tata Sumos some times which can be the cause of accidents.
It is pertinent to mention here that after the past snow fall and flush flood the condition of these link roads are very bad and the concerned authorities are still fail to repair these link roads in proper way.
