Aash Foundation celebrates World Environment Day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 6 : Aash Foundation celebrated World Environment Day by organizing various actuivities including plantation of saplings at various places in Jammu city and lectures held on the topic 'preservation of environment', Prof Indu kilam Vice Chairperson of Aash Foundation, Dr R L Dhar Secretary General of Aash Foundation, Seema Mattoo Media Secretary (AF) and Sumit Kullar (member AF) spoke on various subjects related to the topic. According to spokesperson, the objective of the programme was to create awareness on preservation of our environment among the civil society. The experts also presented papers on Global Warming/Climate Change and its effects on natural resources worldwide in the seminar during technical session. Professor Ganjoo Department of Geology of Jammu University presented a paper on 'water resources and climatic change ',Dr. Nadeem Ahmad of Geological Survey of India also presented paper on 'how protected is our ground water on of Environment and former Vice Chancellor of the Global Open University Prof Ravi Jyee also spoke on the occasion. The speakers specially mentioned the 'Environmental Scenario in J&K' in their lectures and main thrust was laid on areas-snow and glaciers, shrinking of water bodies, stream flow changes and energy development, climatic changes, food security, tourism, urbanization and above all the road ahead. People from different walks of life also were a part of this campaign. |
