Jammu, June 6: Five lakh was imposed on a man evading tax at Lakhanpur toll plaza the gateway to Jammu and Kashmirin Kathua district. A load carrier tried to evade the Sales Tax counter via Pattanpedian area in Kathua yesterday when the driver fled from the spot, Surinder Singh Bagal, S-I, Sales Tax here said. He said that the team comprising Excise, Sales and Police chased the vehicle and nabbed him near village Chhan Morian. The vehicle was loaded with soap and was on way towards Jammu, he said, adding that the driver fled from the spot but a penalty of Rs 1. 5 lakh as tax was imposed on its owner. |
