Suny morning in Kashmir, night temperature still below normal | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 6: After damp and cloudy weather from the last about one week, the people of Kashmir woke up to a sunny morning today though the night temperature was below normal. A Met department spokesperson said here this afternoon that the state will witness rain at isolated places till tomorrow while the weather will remain dry from June 8 to 10. Meanwhile, there was a slight dip in the night temperature in Leh in Ladakh region. Against 8.6 degrees Celsius recorded yesterday, the temperature today was 6.4 degrees. He said the sky will mainly remain dry in Leh, where the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 19 degrees and 8 degrees respectively. In the border town of Kargil, the temperature recorded was 6.2 degrees, against 6.8 degrees witnessed yesterday.The world famous ski resort, Gulmarg, recorded lowest in the region with 4.2 degrees night temperature, which is around 5 degrees less than normal. The night temperature recorded yesterday in Gulmarg was 4.5 degrees. He said the summer capital, Srinagar, witnessed some improvement in the night temperature and the minimum settled at 11.9 degrees against 10.8 degrees yesterday. He said the maximum temperature during the day in Srinagar was 10 degrees less than normal. The spokesperson said sky will be partly cloudy in Srinagar, where maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 25 degrees and 11 degrees respectively. The world famous health resort Pahalgam also witnessed a dip in the night temperature. Against 8.5 degrees recorded yesterday, the temperature witnessed was 7.2 degrees. However, it was still above normal.Qazigund, the gateway to Kashmir valley, also witnessed considerable dip in the night temperature. Against 11.2 degrees witnessed yesterday, it was 8.8 degrees today. Tourist resort, Kokernag, remained almost unchanged while Kupwara recorded 9.2 degrees, against 11.3 degrees witnessed yesterday. The spokesperson said weather will mainly remain dry in Jammu, where maximum and minimum emperatures would be around 19 degrees and 08 degrees respectively. |
