Sarpanchs, Panchs hold protest in support of demands | | | Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, June 6: About 100 Sarpanchs and Panchs of District Kishtwar today held a strong protest outside Deputy Commissioner Office Kishtwar in support of their long pending demands including enhancement of monthly honorarium of Panchs and Sarpanchs beside immediate release of all pending wages of MGNREGA job card holders pending since last three years runs into several crores. As per the details available with "Early Times" large number of Panchs and Sarpanchs along with job card holders today assembled outside Assistant Development Commissioner Office Kishtwar under the leadership of Manoj Kumar Parihar and Mohammad Iqbal Keen and held a protest rally up to DC Office Kishtwar where they held a strong protest against the government for their failure in addressing the demands of Sarpanches and Panches. While talking to "Early Times", the agitating Sarpachs and Panchs informed that various falling under Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) Act violate the rules and regulation, added that the 14 departments falling under PRI prepared their annual plans without consulting the Sarpanches and Panches. They said that no "Gram Sabha" is being held by any department before finalizing the annual plan. They also raise the issue of non payments of MGNREGA wages to job card holders for the year 2013-14 & 2014-15. Later a deputation of Panchs and Sarpanchs also called on DC Kishtwar and submitted a memorandum to him highlighting various demands. |
