Cooperative Minister reprimands CCB Chairman, MD | | | Early Times Report jammu, June 16: Apparently annoyed over alleged irregularities in the Citizens Cooperative Bank Jammu, the Minister for Cooperative, Chering Dorjey publically reprimanded the CCB Chairman and Managing Director for their lackluster and irresponsible behavior in managing affairs of the bank. The embarrassing moments for the bank management came twice during well attended functions in connection with the inauguration of computerized branches of CCB at Narwal and Vijaypur on Tuesday where the Cooperative Minister was the chief guest. The Cooperative Minister, during informal interaction with the bank management after the inauguration at Vijaypur branch, gave some suggestion and sought reply on certain queries, which were parried by the Chairman Dinesh Gupta. It irked the minister who snubbed the Chairman in front of all for the latter's lack of knowledge on banking issues. At Narwal branch, Chering Dorjey once again took the Chairman to task for allegedly lowering the status of a Cabinet Minister by `inappropriate' wording in the invitation card for the function. According to the sources, Chering Dorjey took a serious note of the invitation card writing, which mentioned that the Minister for Cooperative was going to inaugurate the bank branch in presence of honourable. As the minister sought to know, who was the honourable in whose presence he was inaugurating the branch, the Chairman had no answer. In a bid to shift the responsibility, the Chairman said that invitation cards were prepared by the Managing Director, who also failed to explain why the word honourable was misplaced. In the presence of Speaker Kavinder Gupta and others, sources said that the Cooperative Minister reprimanded the chairman as well as MD for their lack of common sense and said that mistake was enough to hint about their immaturity in dealing with the bank affairs. Pertinent to mention that the CCB has been running in losses for the past few years because of mismanagement and financial irregularities in the bank. |
