Worried BJP contacts high command on AIIMS issue | | | Early Times Report jammu, June 16: The BJP state unit has asked the party high command in Delhi to announce setting up AIIMS in Jammu at the earliest. According to sources, the state BJP is disturbed after another call for Jammu bandh was issued by the Coordination Committee, this time for 72 hours. And the party hurriedly contacted the high command in New Delhi and asked it to pressurize the Centre to make an announcement about the AIIMS at the earliest. "The Deputy Chief Minister and other senior leaders talked to the Union Health Minister and also to the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely today to apprise them about the developments. They were assured that an announcement would be made very soon," said a senior BJP leader, wishing not to be named. The Coordination Committee will take credit for setting up AIIMS if the announcement in this regard is delayed further. The state unit leadership has also communicated to the central high command that this issue is being played out in a manner to give an impression that the BJP is insensitive to the aspirations of Jammu region and also unfit for governance. "There is a definite pattern emerging out as every other day there are protests. The announcement for 72-hour bandh was made after National Conference held a protest rally against the BJP-PDP government and announced that the Sangh parivar will not be allowed to set its agenda. The same NC leadership had extended its support to the bandh call earlier. So it's clear that attempts are being made to unsettle and discredit the BJP government. The BJP's rise in the Muslim majority state has disturbed many political equations," said a senior BJP leader. |
