BJP to chalk out JK strategy in Delhi; MLAs MLCs asked to attend July 12 meeting | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 4: The BJP President and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's close aide Amit Shah has urged the entire BJP camp to remain present in Delhi on July 12 for a crucial meeting on Jammu Kashmir. The meeting is expected to chalk out future course of action vis-a-vis the alliance partner PDP. Sources within the BJP revealed that Shah asked the entire BJP leadership to attend the important meeting being held for two days at 27 Akbar Road New Delhi on July 12 and 13. They said the nature of the meeting would be important in deciding party's future strategy. "The BJP ministers in the government (both of the cabinet rank and of the MoS), MLAs, MLC, district presidents and other office bearers are attending the meet. "The meeting has been termed important by the party high command as it would seek feedback from the party leadership in Jammu and Kashmir about the status of coalition and party's relations with the PDP. Also future course of action shall also be decided in the meet," sources said. The meeting is also considered important due to the recent statement of the spokesman of the coalition government and education Minister Naeem Akhtar who termed Article 370 a 'non- negotiable' entity in Jammu and Kashmir. Akhtar also stated that the special status of the state is already a settled issue. BJP earlier had stated that it is committed to scrap Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir "as it is a hurdle in state' development." Meanwhile, when contacted, the BJP spokesman confirmed that the meeting is taking place in New Delhi on July 12. He said that the meet is aimed to strengthen the party's functioning in Jammu and Kashmir with the latest developments also being discussed by the party leadership. |
