Court seeks action report in 'Wamiq's Killing' as per SC Directions | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 4: Principal and Sessions Judge Srinagar today has sought action taken as directed by the Supreme Court in regard to tragic Wamiq Farooq a Class VII student, allegedly killed after a teargas shell fired by the police hit him during a protest near Gani Memorial Stadium at Rajouri Kadal on 31 January 2010. The session court passed the directions following a letter received by it from Supreme Court, directing compliance of its order dated April 7. The Principal and Sessions Judge, Rashid Ali Dar said, " it is deemed expedient transmit the copy of the order of Apex Court to 1st Additional Sessions Judge, 2nd Additional District and Sessions Judge, Chief Judicial magistrate Srinagar and also to SSP Srinagar with the direction to submit the report regarding the action taken in pursuance of the direction of Apex Court." Principal and Sessions Judge, Rashid Ali Dar said and posted the case for further consideration on July 9. Pertinently Supreme Court has already directed trial courts to proceed uninfluenced by Special Investigation Team (SIT) while disposing of a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the government in 2012, challenging rejection of a revision petition filed by it in J&K high court against Sessions Court's order directing registration of second FIR into the killing. Wamiq Farooq a teen was killed allegedly after a teargas shell fired by the police hit him during a protest near Gani Memorial Stadium at Rajouri Kadal on 31 January 2010 and his death had triggered massive protests in the Valley. |
