Sept 2014 Floods: Kulani residents allege state government for ignoring till date | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Aug 1 : Expressing their anguish over the alleged negligence from state government and district administration as well, the People of ill fated village Kulani in Mandi of Poonch district today said that after lapse of ten months of devastation suffered due to heavy flesh floods and landslides in September 2014, the people yet have not been duly compensated. Aggrieved locals lamented that their village was among worst affected in Mandi of Poonch as over 95% of their movable and immovable property got washed away, but after lapse of more than 10 months our state government and district administration as both remained non serious towards their miseries. They said, "As so many times our selected MPs and MLAs visited the area and assured them to bring this village in "flood prone" zone and make all possible arrangements that there would be no further loss but no such arrangements have been made till date." "Even they fail to provide a single krait (embankment) for this village, villagers said and added that now people of this village came out to help themselves to protect this ill fated village from further loss but all in vein without involvement of state govt. Aggrieved villagers once again are looking towards authorities with hope to make some preventive arrangements to save this village from further loss during rainy season as there is likelihood of the flash floods in case of heavy rains. |
