'AIIMS okay for Kashmir, in Jammu it will spread diseases' | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 1: Facing flak over its failure to come up to the expectations of Jammuites, over proposed establishment of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders have been leaving no stone unturned to justify their party's position, which conspicuously are nothing more than tactics to befool masses. In an amusing statement, made to justify his party's stand, a BJP leader said that establishment of AIIMS in Jammu would only bring in more disease. "The AIIMS is okay for Kashmir. If it comes up in Jammu, it will only spread diseases", the BJP leader, who had come to attend a cremation at Jogi gate said. The BJP leader, who had also unsuccessfully contested local body elections left people perplexed with his statement . "Hospitals are for providing cure for diseases and not responsible for spreading diseases. Such statements are simply tactics to befool masses", a local in attendance said, and added that if such would be the understanding of BJP, the Super-specialty hospital and Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) should also be closed down. Meanwhile, expressing surprise over the erection of concertina wire outside residence of BJP ministers by police, former Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Narinder Singh said that it was still a mystery, whether BJP ministers have been house arrested or they have confined themselves to escape public ire. Extending full support to the struggle launched by AIIMS Coordination Committee, Narinder Singh appealed people irrespective of caste, colour, creed, religion, to come forward and extend all types of help and support, as the struggle was for genuine cause and for rights of Jammu region. "When AIIMS Coordination Committee has started struggle for bringing justice to Jammu it is moral duty of every Jammuite to extend full support", he said. |
