Kishtwar, Aug 1: A high school in Kishtwar was found locked during school hours, prompting the Deputy Commissioner to order a probe. A police team headed by Additional SP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom, had recently visited the High School Bandrina in connection with a probe related to alleged embezzlement in some BRGF plan executed though Rural Development Department, sources said. They said the school was found locked, and accordingly the matter was brought into the notice of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Mohammad Javed Khan, and Chief Education Officer Kishtwar Vinod Kumar Soni. Khan immediately ordered a probe into the absenteeism culture that too in a school which is situated merely one km from the office of the CEO Kishtwar. The DC Kishtwar also issued notices to absent employees to explain their position. A two-member committee comprising principal HSS Boys and Tehsildar Kishtwar was constituted to probe the matter. As per official sources, 16 teachers are posted in the school with over 100 students on the rolls. Out of the 16 teachers, only one teacher had gone on leave. Meanwhile, many influential teachers has started exerting political pressure on the district administration and the Education Department to hush up the case. It is pertinent to mention that hundreds of teachers, having no political backing, seldom get a chance to serve in cities and towns even after working in rural and unconnected areas for years together. On the other hand, the influential teachers not only manage to get the prize postings, they also manage their postings in cities and town, and still shy away from the duty. |
