CEE, WIPRO launches Paryavaran Mitra, " Earthian Project | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 1 : CEE jointly with CEET and Department of Environmental Sciences Jammu University today launched WIPRO supported EARTHIAN project in J&K state. Dr. Pramod Sharma, Programme Director CEE and Arathi from WIPRO Bangalore were the expert resource persons whereas Prof. Anil K Raina, Head department of environmental Sciences was the chief guest and Astt. Prof Deepika Salathia was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. More than 80 teachers from government and private schools from all the districts of Jammu attended the one day training orientation programme on the implementation of EARTHIAN project in the schools. Teachers participated in the interactive sessions and hands on practice on the environmental learning and teaching processes. They were trained to complete project on the theme WATER in three months and assessing Disposition, Knowledge, Competency and behavioural parameters of schools and school students. Assistant Prof. Deepika Salathia welcomed the participants and resource persons. Prof. Raina while speaking said that such like capacity building workshops for the teachers will go long way in improving the quality of environment education in schools. He said that all school teachers should take up environment activities in the whole school approach where concepts of nature conservation, climate change, garbage disposal, non- use of polythene and other environment issues should be taught at all levels in the schools. Dr. C M Sethan expert environmentalist while welcoming the participants said that in J&K state 5500 government schools have been registered Eco-Club schools under NGC scheme of Ministry of Environment and Forests GOI since 2001. ] In addition 8000 schools are registered under Paryavaran Mitra HandPrint Project for the last more than three years. |
