New Delhi, Aug 1: Amit Sharma, Special Secretary to Government, Animal/Sheep Husbandry & Fisheries Department shared his vision while leading from the front and moderating a panel discussion on Smart Transportation for Smart Cities (STSC) in an all-important 4th Smart City Conference held at NCR which was attended by experts, executors, officers and various stakeholders in this ambitious central government project. Smart City Conference was a day-long affair which included various sessions such as Developing Smart Cities, Safe Cities using Smart Technology, Making Urban Bodies Smart, Smart Ways of Government Service Delivery, Smart Energy & Sustainable Development for Smart Infrastructure, GIS & Surveying for Smart Cities and last but not the least, Smart Transportation for Smart Cities session which was led by Special Secretary Amit Sharma. While all panelists shared their perspectives on the relevance of Smart Transportation for Smart Cities citing various examples, facts & figures, Special Secretary Amit Sharma who was moderating the panel discussion mentioned about the urban transportation reforms which include city traffic surveillance systems, usage of hybrid and electric vehicles, emission monitoring systems, maximum usage of bio-fuels, installation of intelligent traffic light systems, usage of GPS navigation devices, roadside sensors, usage of radio frequency tags, implementation of stringent norms to curb vehicular pollution so that the upcoming smart cities can take the pressure of modern times and become more liveable and inclusive. |
