BSF tops medals tally, JKP getting 3rd position

SRINAGAR, Aug 1: The Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar has said that sports create camaraderie among the youth and help them in maintaining their physical and mental fitness. He advised the youth to take part in the sports activities and avail the opportunities provided by JKP by conducting different sports events in the State.
Rajendra was speaking at the closing ceremony of All India Police Water Sports Championship-2015 at Armed Complex Zewan yesterday evening. He felicitated the participating teams, who showed best performance during the championship and said that the national event received encouraging response from sports lovers at local level as water sports have a good potential in the Valley. He said that JKP has organised the championship third time and our aquatic sports team has excelled in different events bringing laurels for the State and the Organisation. The DGP appreciated the role of organizers for their efforts in conducting the national level championship in a befitting manner. He also thanked the players of the teams, who had come from different states of the country, for exhibiting discipline and sportsmanship during the tournament.
The Chairman Sports Federation of India, S. K. Sinha, who was present on the occasion in his speech thanked the DGP and his team of officers for organizing such a well organized national level tournament at the world famous Dal lake. He also thanked the teams who excel in the championship.
BSF topped the medal tally by getting 30 medals including 10 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze. CRPF achieved 2nd position winning 26 medals including 14 gold. JKP secured 3rd place on third position with 24 medals including 8 gold medals.
Hosted by JKP for the third time, in world famous Dal Lake from July 27, the championship was participated by 17 teams of different Central and State police organization of the country. Over 450 athletes prove their mettle in Canoeing, Kayaking and Rowing.
