Paramilitary personnel push for one rank, one pension | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 15: Paramilitary personnel belonging to Jammu and Kashmir today alleged that the central government had divided the armed forces by announcing one rank, one pension (OROP) selectively. Ex-servicemen are on a hunger strike demanding OROP implementation for the para-military forces, which serve in hostile conditions like Army soldiers. Under the banner of the All J&K Central Paramilitary Force Welfare Association, former personnel belonging to different central forces which come under the Union Home Ministry raised slogans against the recent decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They alleged that the central government was dividing soldiers of country for its "petty politics". Addressing protesters, association working president RL Dogra alleged that the government continued to discriminate between soldiers belonging to different forces. "Former personnel of para-military forces are not granted the facilities and other benefits by the concerned states as it is applicable to the country's ex-defence forces personnel, though the service conditions are almost similar," said Dogra. On OROP, Dogra said despite several representations, the successive governments had failed to consider demands of ex-servicemen. General secretary Darshan Kumar said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh should take up the issue with the Prime Minister so that justice is done with the retired security forces personnel of central forces.
